Yes. For your stay in Croatia, a valid passport or identification document for each guest is required (children included). At the arrival of the accommodation, the owner will need your documents in order to copy the necessary personal details because he has to register you at the tourist office. The personal documents will not be taken from you. Tourist tax is already included in the rental price.
Unfortunately, they are not accepted – if so we will let you know in the offer. Upon your arrival, the owner will welcome you and mostly they do not have the possibility to charge credit cards on the spot. So, unfortunately, upon arrival, only payments in cash are accepted if not otherwise stated.
During your stay, it is not allowed to have more guests than registered upon your arrival. Possible visits by friends for lunch or barbecue have to be approved by the owner on arrival, as the owner makes decisions on this subject.
As of 1st January 2023, the official currency of Croatia is the Euro.
During your stay, your contact is the owner of the accommodation. Since the hosts know their accommodation the best, they can help you directly. Therefore, contact your host in a case like this.
When you make a non-binding request for accommodation, we will send you a concrete offer by email, which will give you the opportunity to make a binding booking by paying the down payment.
Unfortunately, this is not possible. The amount must be received by us as one sum under the intended reference stated on the invoice.
Cuisine: No matter what time of year you visit Istria, Istrian cuisine will be diverse and will surely surprise you. Truffles, olive oil, prosciutto, wines, and many more regional specialties.
Coastal landscape: Istria is known for its beautiful towns right on the coast. Whether Porec, Rovinj, or Pula – all cities are culturally and historically shaped by Italy. The sights in Istria, therefore, have a diverse and long history. Furthermore, the coastal towns impress with their great location and picturesque old towns.
Istria has great beaches and bays to offer: relaxing on the beach, paddle boarding, kayaking, or taking a private boat tour. There is something for everyone!
Charming mountain villages: Istria not only inspires with dreamy coastal landscapes but is also known for many small towns in the hinterland. With its very own flair and beautiful towns like Groznjan, Bale, or Hum, the heartland of Istria has become a magnet for visitors. It is not without reason that the hinterland of the country is called the Tuscany of Istria.
Peak season in Istria: Due to its proximity to many European countries, Istria has become a popular travel destination during the school holidays, especially for families with children.
In particular, the months of July and August are heavily frequented. For the high season, it is therefore recommended to look for accommodation at a good time, book popular activities in advance, reserve your favorite table in the restaurant, and thus avoid long waiting times and disappointment. The advantage in these travel months is of course the constant weather and pleasant sea temperatures.
Low season in Istria: The low season in Istria is between April & June and September & October. Other visitors must also be expected during these months. However, these are much more relaxed months to get to know the region and the cities. Tip: The truffle hunt for the valuable white truffles begins in September!
By car: Coming from central Europe, we recommend arriving by car. Since public transport in Istria is not well developed, it is helpful to be mobile. The car makes it easier to explore the region. Important: Vignette obligation for the motorway in Austria and Slovenia.
By airplane: Depending on where you are coming from, flying is also an option. The largest airport in Istria is located in Pula. Alternatively, you can also fly to Venice or Triest. If you are arriving by plane, cars can be rented at the airports and in larger towns.
On all tours offered, there is no maximum of people, however, the minimum is 2 persons (however, if you are just one person send us a message and we can figure something out). Larger groups than 12 people should make a request on time (at least four days before the tour). Since this requires more complex organizational planning.
Pickup will take place at the specified time depending on the tour selected and your location. You will be informed about the pick-up time as soon as the booking has been made. The earliest pick-up time is 8.00 a.m. though.
Dogs are generally allowed, but please contact us in advance.
Important for the tour are comfortable and solid shoes, a hat, mosquito repellent and not to forget sun protection for face and body!
Truffle hunting with a local expert is a unique experience in Istria. The truffle hunt is carried out by a professional licensed truffle hunter and her/his companion dogs. The oak forests around Motovun, Buzet, and Livade are best suited for truffle hunting. The dogs sniff and guide the truffle hunter to the right places where the valuable mushroom is hiding. After the dogs discover the truffles, the truffle hunter carefully digs them up and carefully closes the hole again so that the truffles can grow again. No one can say for sure when a truffle will be found in the same place again.
The truffle tasting starts with a starter with various truffle specialties such as truffle salami, truffle cheese, and truffle spreads. The main course is a Truffle Fritaja after an excellent family recipe and the dessert varies from time to time.
At the wine tasting, between three and six wines are tasted. Each family winery grows autochthonous Istrian wine varieties, such as Malvazija and Teran. However, you will also taste international varieties and delicious cuvées.
In the event of a cancellation due to the weather, you will be given either your money back or you can choose a new date for a tour through Istria.
Yes, upon request you can get up to a 10% discount when you book multiple tours.
There are no additional costs for you. Entrance fees, tastings, and transportation are included in the price of the day trips.
The trips must be booked at least 24 hours in advance. This time is needed to clarify all the details with the respective partners so that the best possible experience can be prepared for you.
All tours are private tours. But yes, you can also book a tailor-made experience. Whether it’s a bachelorette party, a special birthday trip, or just a private and unique day trip through Istria. Depending on your wishes and personal preferences, a tailor-made experience will be created for you.
All products that you taste during the tour can be purchased directly from the manufacturers.
