Costumed guards welcome visitors at the town gate and escort them to the square, where they can experience the ambiance of the times when the famous adventurer Giacomo Casanova visited Vrsar. Here, fair stalls offer a variety of food and drink options, including small meals, Istrian smoked ham, cheese, wine, homemade liqueurs, honey and honey products, traditional dry biscuits, candied almonds, sweet fritters, and souvenirs made of stone and wood. In addition, presenters in medieval costumes provide brief accounts of Vrsar’s history, particularly highlighting curiosities from the 1609 Vrsar Statute. The Statute regulated many aspects of life in Vrsar at the time, including the operation of taverns, wine quality control, town gate opening and closing times, control of foreign entry, hygiene, and municipal order. Adding to the cheerful and pleasant ambiance of the event are street entertainers and musicians.
